Early risers, rejoice! In an effort to address the effects of the new course matrix, in which classes begin as early as 8:00 a.m., we’ve developed a pilot initiative to open the Pratt Campus Library at 7:30 a.m. through the balance of the spring semester, Monday-Friday. The Visual Resources Center, Multi-Media Services, and Reference Desk will continue to open at their customary (current) times.

Exhibit and Discussion: Living off the Land in Space
February 2, 2007 · Leave a Comment
Please join C Bangs and Gregory Matloff on Thursday, February 15th from 5-8pm for a reading and discussion of the recently published book, Living Off the Land in Space. A reception begins at 5:00 and the reading/discussion will begin at 6:00. Images and text from the book can be seen in the library exhibit cases from January 13-February 22. The talk will take place in the Alumni Reading Room on the 3rd floor of the Brooklyn Campus Library.
This collaborative exhibition presents a visionary concept for future directions of space travel, from both an artistic and a literary perspective. It describes how revolutionary in-space propulsion concepts under development by the NASA In-Space-Propulsion Technologies Program in Huntsville, Alabama, can lead to space pioneering, in the tradition of those who settled the Old West, allowing future humans to “live off the land” in space.
“Living Off the Land in Space” is the result of dialogues Bangs and Matloff had with Les Johnson, formerly Director of In-Space Propulsion, while working as NASA Faculty Fellows.
